La Boca, Buenos Aires
Photograph by B. Unsworth, 2009

La Boca’s brightly painted houses, seen here in a burst of vivid colour, recall the neighbourhood’s origins as a working-class dockside quarter where residents used leftover ship paint to brighten their homes. That mix of improvised materials and immigrant history still shapes its character, reflected in the stacked façades and corrugated surfaces in the image.
