Henri James Nathaniel Charles de Rothschild (1872–1947), a French physician, philanthropist, playwright and noted bibliophile who enlarged the distinguished Rothschild family library, assembling an important collection of rare books and mediaeval manuscripts. Writing under several pseudonyms, he also founded hospitals and infant welfare institutions, supported the work of Pierre and Marie Curie, and established the Théâtre Pigalle in Paris.
