Azure, the word 'Libertas' in bend or. Originally belonging to the Priori di Libertà, it was adopted after Florence asserted its freedom from imperial rule in the 12th century.
One of the coats of arms on the facade of the Palazzo Vecchio, Florence. First painted c. 1340. Repainted 1792. The current paintings are from post 1945.
