| This mask is thought to come from the necropolis of Meir and to have belonged to Senbi, or Sebni, a high-status Ancient Egyptian official of the Twelfth Dynasty of the Middle Kingdom (c. 1980–c. 1760 BC), according to archaeological records from Meir. It is very likely that this Senbi is the same individual identified as the steward Senbi, whose tomb group, also discovered at Meir, included a canopic chest and the 'William' hippopotamus figurine now held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. |
