The Castildetierra formation

Although it might appear to be a sculptural relic, the Castildetierra formation in the Bardenas Reales in southeast Navarre, Spain, results from harder sandstone and limestone layers protecting softer clay beneath from erosion. Over time, wind and rain removed the softer material, leaving the distinctive pinnacle visible today.
