Crepuscular Rays,
Mexico City Image by J. Rudo, 2026 |

The phenomenon of
crepuscular rays are columns of sunlight that appear to spread from
a single point in the sky, creating a dramatic effect when clouds or
distant mountains obstruct the sun and allow light to pass through
gaps. The beams become visible through scattering by atmospheric
particles such as dust, mist, and smoke, and they appear to diverge
due to perspective even though they remain parallel. |
