| NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, using the NIRCam (Near-Infrared Camera) instrument, captured detailed images of a part of the Milky Way's dense core, revealing new features that scientists have not yet fully understood. This star-forming area containing an estimated 500,000 stars (clusters of protostars), known as Sagittarius C (Sgr C), is located approximately 300 light-years from the Milky Way’s central supermassive black hole, Sagittarius A*. A substantial area of ionized hydrogen, depicted in cyan, features curious needle-shaped structures that lack any uniform orientation. |
