Dionysius Cato's Catho
moralizatus alias Speculum regiminis (Lyons, Jean de Vingle,
1498), also known as 'Disticha de moribus', is a collection of Latin
proverbs or moral maxims attributed to Theobald of Chelsea, a
12th-century scholar. It consists of short, two-line verses (distichs)
that provide advice on proper conduct, ethics, and the virtues that
one should pursue in life. These proverbs were intended to guide
people in leading a moral and virtuous life. The book was the most
popular book in the Middle Ages.
