Winged cherubs making arrows Fresco painting, attributed to Giovanni Battista Brambilla, 17th century Villa della Regina, Turin |
||||||||||
| Winged cherubs busy at work crafting arrows, using hammers and an anvil near an oven, with rocks and trees and a natural landscape around them. Positioned above the present vault of the room, this decoration belongs to a wider group of paintings on the main and second floors of the Villa della Regina, uncovered during preliminary work on the second floor that accompanied restoration efforts begun in 1990. The style of this painting follows the decorative style common in Baroque villa decoration, where playful mythological or allegorical scenes were painted to enliven ceilings and vaults. |
