Ferdinando Cassina (1811–1878)

Cassina, an architect, draughtsman, and engraver, was born in Milan. He studied drawing at the Brera Academy, where he received awards in 1810, 1811, and 1814, while also attending the private school of Giuseppe Bossi. In 1815 he won a prize that enabled him to remain in Rome until 1820, during which time he produced, among other works, a notable drawing of the Rape of the Argive Women. From 1846 he served as professor of drawing, and he published several books on architecture in Milan.
