An infant enveloped in a swirling cocoon of patterned fabrics, the forms gently curving around the child. Rich ornamentation and flowing lines create a sense of warmth and intimate enclosure. The fabrics reflect the influence of fauvism and folk art, shaped by Klimt’s travels to Venice and other Italian cities, where he encountered ancient mosaics that inspired his use of lavish surface decoration. |
