Rigoletto, the hunchbacked court jester in Verdi’s opera, tries to protect his daughter Gilda from the corrupt world around them, but his plan for revenge tragically backfires. Gilda, innocent and sheltered, falls in love with the Duke of Mantua and ultimately sacrifices herself to save him, fulfilling a curse placed on her father. |
