| Carlo Orsolini (1703–1781) | ||||||||||
| An Italian engraver and publisher, Orsolini was born in Venice. He built a successful career in the printing trade and engraved portraits as well as allegorical and religious subjects. His style demonstrated expert craftsmanship in woodcut and engraving, especially his use of chiaroscuro to create depth, texture, and tonal subtleties. His prints displayed a strong grasp of classical form and proportion, drawing influence from Renaissance and Baroque traditions. Orsolini also provided prints for books, and often collaborated with other artists on shared projects. He died in Venice. | ||||||||||
