He laid the groundwork for Kuwait's institutional framework by establishing legal and constitutional bodies, promoting democracy and independence. Under his leadership, significant strides were made in education and healthcare, with the introduction of free education for all, modernisation of schools, and the establishment of healthcare facilities including hospitals and maternity centres. Additionally, infrastructure development such as desalination plants, power stations, and low-income housing projects were initiated, along with social support systems including pensions for vulnerable groups. In 1961, Kuwait attained full independence under Abdullah's guidance, forging new diplomatic ties with nations worldwide and becoming a member of the United Nations in 1963.
