Sheikh Ahmad served in the Kuwait Army from 1985 to 1990, and in the First Gulf War. A member of the International Olympic Committee, Sheikh Ahmad was banned from further involvement in the Olympics after a court in Geneva convicted him of forgery. He appealed the charges.
