Biographical
After the Ottoman invasion of the Kosovo region, Zogu retreated to the
mountains and waged continuous battles. He led an uprising against the
Ottoman governor in Burgajet who was subsequently killed, and Zogu united
the Matians who began to wage war against their occupiers. After a number
of successful attacks, Zogu was acknowledged as the ruler of Mati by the
Sultan. He continued his battles against the Ottomans, and was later killed
during an attack on the city of Peladhi.
Zogu was a Christian, but later converted to Islam.
