A writer and poet, Ignacio did not enjoy the same level of success as his brother Gabriel. In 1679, a marriage was arranged for him, but it did not proceed. He travelled to Flanders and later returned to Madrid, where he dedicated himself to literature. His best known work is Ocios, which primarily contains dramatic and musical pieces. Whilst abroad, he wrote to his sister Melchora, asking her to intercede with their father for his release from imprisonment. He was back in Spain by 1685. Ignacio was married and had issue.
