Amédée
was the first member of the Savoy family to use the title of prince of
Piedmont, the title that was to be reserved for the first-born son of
the family.
In 1431 he was betrothed
in 1431 to Anne of Cyprus who went on to marry his brother Louis.
In 1430 he ceded various
fiefdoms to the bishops of Ivrea in exchange for Vische. He died on his
way to Lombardy, sent by his father with an a military corps that was
to accompany the Emperor Sigismund from his return from his invasion of
Venice.
