Emanuele was excluded from the royal succession. His right to the titles
of Mirafiori and Fontanafredda were confirmed by letters patent.
In 1878, he founded the E. di Mirafiori winery, which passed on to his
son, Gastone, along with the estates of Mirafiori, Fontanafredda, Barolo,
and Sommariva Perna. From 1880, the business expanded and began to trade
abroad, and became a very successful and renown winery, winning numerous
awards, both in Italy and internationally.

Son of Vittorio Emanuele II of Italy and Rosa Vercellana. He married Contessa
Bianca de Larderel in 1873, and had issue.
