When Emanuele Filiberto was born, the Italian Constitution still forbade male members of his family from entering Italy. This was finally revoked in 2002, which allowed Emanuele Filiberto to make an official return to Italy that year, although he still resided at Ticino. Although Emanuele Filiberto is more notable for his participation in television entertainment, he has also been involved in the Emanuele Filiberto Charity Fund Foundation, and other business ventures. He resides with his family at Monte Carlo. Emanuele Filiberto's right of succession is disputed by the Savoy-Aosta branch of the family, and also by some historians.
