In 1638 Louis succeeded his mother to the duchy of Aumale,
after assuming the name and arms of Lorraine. He joined the military at
a young age, and in 1640 he volunteered to join the duc d'Enghien to the
siege at Arras against the Spanish, distinguishing himself there. He then
fought at the siege of
Ayre-sur-la-Lys in 1641 where he was killed. He was succeeded by his brother,
Charles-Amedée.
Son of Henri I de Savoie-Nemours and Anne de Lorraine.
