A godson of King Louis XV of France, Louis-Victor was born at Paris, where
his father had settled. He was educated at the court of Turin, and enjoyed
a close relationship with King Carlo Emanuele of Sardinia. Louis-Victor
served him during the war of 1741–47, and distinguished himself
for his bravery, zeal, and prudence. After the Peace of Aachen of 1748
he remained at the court of Savoy, and resided at Racconigi. He commissioned
the architect Borra to restore the castle.
Carlo Emanuele appointed him grand bailiff and governor of the duchy of
Aosta and captain general of the royal armies.
Having inherited his father's numerous debts, he renounced his succession
to lands located in in France. Having never take possession of the duchy
of Carignan, he sold it to the Duke of Penthievre in 1751.
Louis-Victor died suddenly after a violent vomiting episode.

Son of Vittorio Amedeo I di Savoia and Vittoria di Savoia. He married
