Maurizio was serving the regent of Savoy but after the civil war in Piedmont
broke out in 1639, he betrayed her and sided with Prince Tommaso. He fought
at the siege of Casale in 1640 against the French, and in 1645 in the
assault of Arona. He was mortally wounded when fighting the Spanish in
1645.
In 1640 Maurizio had succeeded his mother to the marquisate of Rive.

Illegitimate son of Carlo Emanuele I di Savoia and Marie-Marguerite de
Rossillon.
