In 1572 Renée's brother, Honoré, Comte de Tende, died without
a will, and she claimed his lands of Tende, Marro and Prela, amongst others,
as his heiress. Conflict arose between her and her uncle, Honoré
the elder, over the succession of those lands. Eventually, troops were
sent to Tende as factions on both sides clashed, with those supporting
Honoré being banished by Renée. By 1575, the Duke of Savoy
intervened, and through an agreement granted Renée the territories
of Baugé and Rivoli in exchange for Tende, Marro, and Prela.
This agreement was renewed in 1581. She died after returning from a voyage
