In 1635, Silvio was in command of a company of corazze. During the civil
war, he was incarcerated in 1639 for plotting in favour of Cardinal Maurizio
of Savoy. He fought off the French forces in 1641 who were trying to advance
into Ivrea, and after peace was made in 1642, he was awarded a pension
from France. His will was dated 23 November 1644, and his heir was his
brother Prince Tommaso.
