Cervantes arrived in Cuba in 1519, and joined Cortés in the following
year. He did not participate in the siege of Tenochtitlan as he had returned
to Spain to fetch his family. In 1524, he returned to Spain with his family.
His children carried the title of don/doña. He was a vecino of Mexico
City, and encomendero of Atlapulco and Xalatlaco.
Place of birth: Tarancón, Cuenca, Castilla-La Mancha
Son of Diego de Cervantes and Guiomar Tello, he married Leonor de Andrada,
and had issue.
