Charles Hampden Barton
(1848–1912) Biographical Member for Macquarie of the Lower House in NSW Parliament 1907–10 Member of the NSW Legislative Assembly in NSW Parliament 1907–10 Major 3rd Regiment 1896 Volunteers captain, 2nd Regiment 1888–96 Of Nanima Station, Wellington, NSW, Barton joined the military and then pursued a career in banking, opening bank branches at Tambaroora at the time of the gold rush, and at Parkes and Wellington. He retired from banking in 1900 and entered politics. He purchased a number of properties, including Towri, Nanima estate and Murrungundy.
