Biographical Alvar had seized certain properties from the convent of Santa María de Belmonte, but subsequently reached an agreement whereby they would be included in the transfer of an encomienda to him in 1310, to be transmitted for one further generation. The intended recipient of the encomienda in the following generation was his son, Menendo.
