A close friend of King Charles III, Judas became an important figure
at the Spanish court and served the ageing monarch during his final
years. During the War of Independence, he initially supported Joseph
Napoleon, but after March 1810 he appears to have changed sides and
joined the Spanish forces opposing him.
Son of Sancho de Miranda and Ana de Villacis, he was married firstly
in 1757 to Isabel Felipa Reggio, and secondly in 1808 to Luisa Escrivá
de Romaní (her first marriage; †1848), with no issue
from either marriage
