(1760–1836)

Biographical

Cäcilie was a skilled harpsichordist and a prominent figure in the Viennese salon scene, where she hosted gatherings that often featured public performances. Raised in a cultured household with a rich education provided by her wealthy parents, she and her siblings were trained by expert musicians, although specific details about her own pianistic training remain unclear. In the 1790s, she performed as a harpsichordist alongside her sister Sara Levy in the home of their eldest sister, Hanna, and her husband. These gatherings, which were open to the public for a fee, were akin to small concerts. Cäcilie managed a notable salon in Vienna, where she likely also played the harpsichord, and had personal interactions with figures such as Goethe. Some of her compositions have been preserved, offering a glimpse into the repertoire she shared with her guests.
