Haasen Other names: Georgy Emmanuilovlch Haasen Biographical Haasen was a collector of modern art, chiefly French, and dealt in works by painters such as Bonnard, Vallotton, Marquet, Manguin, and others. He carried out this activity alongside his business partner, Paul Vallotton, the brother of the artist Félix Vallotton. Haasen also represented the Swiss chocolate company Cailler in St Petersburg, where he took up residence in 1906. In early March 1913, Félix Vallotton visited him there at his invitation and stayed in his home. Vallotton had previously painted a portrait of Haasen’s wife, Valérie, in Broc, Switzerland, in 1908, where the Haasen family spent their summer, and one of Haasen himself in 1912, likely in Paris |
