Islam
Islam is a monotheistic Abrahamic religion founded in the
7th century by the Prophet Muhammad in the Arabian Peninsula.
Its followers adhere to the teachings of the Quran, Islam's
holy book, and consider Muhammad to be the final prophet in
a line that includes figures such as Moses and Jesus. Islam
emphasizes the oneness of Allah, social justice, and moral
conduct. The religion spread rapidly across the Arabian Peninsula
and beyond, fostering a powerful Islamic civilisation that
contributed significantly to science, philosophy, art, and
trade during the medieval period. The historical expansion
of Islam led to the creation of diverse cultures and societies,
each influenced by their unique historical and regional contexts
while sharing core Islamic principles. Today, Islam is one
of the world's major religions, with over 1.8 billion adherents
globally.
