Dido
Bishop of Poitiers
(–669)

Biographical

Bishop of Poitiers c. 629–69†

Dido was allied with Grimoald, the Austrasian Mayor of the Palace, and supported him when Dagobert II was sent into exile in Ireland following the death of his father, Sigebert III, in 656. This action opened the succession for Childebert the Adopted—likely Grimoald’s own son—to assume the throne.
Other sources state that he died after 673.

Brother to Sigrada.
